The Boss
02
August 24, 1964, she participated in the Virtuous Mission under Zero's command as a support member, where she was again reunited with her student, Naked Snake. During the mission, she declared her defection to the Soviet Union. She recaptured Sokolov at Tselinoyarsk, brought together the former members of the Cobra Unit, and delivered two American-developed recoil-less miniature nuclear "Davy Crockett" warheads to Colonel Volgin. Volgin then used one of the Davy Crocketts to destroy the secret design bureau OKB-754.
She found herself caught between superpowers as a traitor to American and a criminal responsible for a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union.
The US executed Operation Snake Eater, sending Naked Snake to the Soviet Union to eliminate The Boss.
On August 30, 1964, the day of the operation, The Boss was pitted against Naked Snake. After acquiring the microfilm from Groznyj Grad detailing the location of the Philosophers' Legacy, then in colonel Volgin's possession, she faced off against Snake in a final battle.
The Boss was prepared to sacrifice her life for her nation, and passed along the Philosophers' Legacy to Naked Snake. Before dying, The Boss told the truth of what had happened to EVA, another of her protégés, who in turn informed Naked Snake. The Boss ultimately left everything in the hands of Naked Snake, the man she had loved, armed, trained, and formed.
The Boss was the final daughter of the Philosophers, a body formed by the true leaders of the three superpowers, America, the Soviet Union, and China. When the final founding member of the organization died in the 1930s, the vestiges of the Philosophers spiraled out of control.
She bore one son together with The Sorrow on a European battlefield of World War II, naming him Adam. Immediately after his birth, however, the child was abducted by a member of the now fading Philosophers. She did not seem him again for the next 20 years.
