Old Snake

Just a few years after the Big Shell takeover, Solid Snake, afflicted with a highly accelerated aging condition, had become an elderly man, prompting Otacon to occasionally refer to him with affection as Old Snake.

OLD is also the result of removing the IS from SOLID; a fitting label for an aged soldier who seeks to end his existence in the midst of a war-based economy growing fatter by the hour.
