The Watergate Scandal

Scandal involving the government of the United States of America in 1972. Suspicious individuals unlawfully entered the Democratic Party Headquarters in the Watergate Building, Washington D.C., and tried to set listening devices. President Nixon and the White House denied any connection between the Administration and the suspicious individuals, but its involvement in the wiretapping was made clear through newspaper coverage. Richard Nixon, the 36th President, was forced to resign.

The scandal began as a result of whistle-blowing by a high official in the US Government who went by the name, "Deepthroat". Deepthroat was also the name used by the mysterious person who intervened in Solid Snake's wireless communication during the Shadow Moses Island Incident in 2005.
