15th Winter Olympics. Held in 1988 in Calgary, Canada.

European participants were highly successful with 11 gold medals won by the Soviet Union, nine by East Germany, five by Switzerland, four by Finland, and four by Sweden.

The mascots were Heidi and Howdy.
