Apoptosis

Cell suicide (apoptosis) that is actively caused in order to protect an individual. Cell death that occurs due to external injury or insufficiency is called necrosis and is distinct from apoptosis. Apoptosis removes useless portions and abnormal cells by causing cell death on a programmed basis.
