Paramedic System

Healthcare system first introduced in 1970 in Seattle, Washington. A paramedic is an emergency team member who has an average of 1500 hours of training. A medical professional, the paramedic is permitted to administer/inject intravenous drips and medicines, use of automatic chest compressors and electrical defibrillators, perform all other standard initial medical practices, and is capable of giving appropriate medical treatment until the patient is delivered to a hospital. Training similar to that of a specialist doctor is necessary to acquire this qualification. Broadly speaking, there are two types of teams involved in emergency situations in the US, EMTs and paramedics.
