Manhattan

An island in the lower reaches of the Hudson River in southeastern New York State.

Manhattan means "hilly island" in the Native American Delaware language. It is known as New York's downtown, containing the world's leading financial district, Wall Street, as well as the shopping district around Times Square. Approximately 1.6 million people live in Manhattan. Its inhabitants consist of many different ethnic groups.
