Y2K Bug

At the end of the 20th century, many older computer systems stored year data as a two-digit integer. It was feared that when the calendar turned over from 1999 to 2000, these systems would interpret the year "00" as 1900.

The crisis was averted by applying workaround patches to many programs, but embedded in these patches was a control program planted by the Patriots.
