Bikini Atoll Hydrogen Bomb Test

01

On March 1, 1954, a hydrogen bomb test called Bravo Shot (Operation Castle) was carried out on Bikini Atoll. At the time, a Japanese tuna fishing boat, Fukuryu Maru No. 5, was exposed to the radioactive fallout. The United States received international criticism. Partly in protest to this incident, the film "Godzilla" was made about a monster created by radiation exposure. Naked Snake was also exposed to radiation from this test because he was at the US military base on Kwajalein Island in the Marshall Islands at the time.
