Drone

An unmanned weapon that is shot into the sky and then collected after gathering intelligence.

After a U-2 reconnaissance plane was shot down in the skies above the Soviet Union in 1960, a plan to conduct unmanned reconnaissance was put together. As a result, the D-21 unmanned reconnaissance drone was developed. Detached from a mother ship, the drone accelerates to a high altitude at more than Mach 3 using a ramjet engine. Collects information while flying at an altitude beyond the range of surface-to-air missiles, and at a speed that makes it impossible to track by radar.

Naked Snake was packed inside a drone launched at Mach 3. He was sent to Tselinoyarsk in the Soviet Union.
