Camouflage
01
The art of concealment by blending into the surroundings. Camouflage techniques are broadly divided into two types. "Blending camouflage" in which an object melts into the scenery using the same camouflage as the surroundings, and "disruptive camouflage" in which the object to be hidden is divided up with different colors, causing it to lose its 3D appearance and making its silhouette difficult to discern. Examples of "blending camouflage" are "Woodland" and "Tree Bark", while examples of "disruptive camouflage" are "Squares" and "Tiger Stripe". Used for military applications since the 18th century, camouflage is a relatively new technique. Adopted by Germany and the Soviet Union during the Second World War. During the Cold War, research into camouflage patterns was actively promoted in the East.
The Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater, set in motion by FOX in 1964, were operations that involved infiltrating the Soviet Union. By using camouflage, Naked Snake achieved solo infiltration of wooded regions.
