Soliton

01

An unchanging wave motion which does not lose speed or shape, even when passing through a medium. The world "soliton" is a combination of "solitary" with an added suffix "-on" meaning "subatomic particle". Waves such as tidal waves generated on the surface of the sea and waves produced by the prow of a boat are identified as solitons. Formulae that calculate conditions that result in solitons, such as the KdV equation, are called soliton equations and are used not only in fluid mechanics, but also in physics, quantum theory, and differential geometry.

Mei Ling developed the Soliton Radar by applying the laws of soliton.
